We are happy to announce the upcoming GEMSTONE Final Annual Meeting, scheduled to take place in Zeist, the Netherlands, on October 2-3, 2023!
During this meeting patienst themselves and representative leaders of patient organisations will meet with the scientific network of GEMSTONE. The topics to be discussed will include : 1) their vision of collaborative research between advocacy organizations and research teams; 2) the main challenges confronted by collaborative research in rare bone conditions; 3) the perception of the relevance of conducted research to day on rare bone conditions or group of conditions; 4) potential to redirect the focus of research and development (R&D) activities; and 5) the role of patients in translational research within the spectrum from basic research in the lab to the availability of medicinal products.
Diverse interaction opportunities will also be capitalised with potential industry partners on topics such as: 1) insight into core scientific aspects on the overlap of interests between industry and academia; 2) illustration on the ins- and outs- of the drug-development process; 3) description of the implications for research of the regulatory context; and 4) their view on the involvement of patient-advocacy perspectives in product development.
